Marie-ChristmasMarie’s Bistro — located at 2260 West Hwy 30A in Blue Mountain Beach — will host a very special Christmas music show on Friday, December 13th at 6:30pm.

The show will feature the musical talents of Kaci Bolls and Buddy Mullins, as well as 30A favorites Tim Jackson and Ike Bartley.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the door.

Raised by an elementary school teacher and a Christian song-leader — Kaci learned the magic of music at a young age. After drifting for a few years as a young woman, songwriter Marty Dodson stumbled across some of Kaci’s songs and called her up to ask her why she wasn’t in Nashville. Dodson dared her to enter a songwriting contest; one in which Kaci later earned honorable mentions and two first places. She moved to Nashville, and continues to write songs today with wisdom, grace, and more than a little humor.

Buddy hit the road with his family at the age of eight. His dad was a traveling evangelist and the rest of the family joined him on the road to sing gospel music. Since then, Buddy has been a part of writing many chart-toping songs including “God is Believable” (which rose to #1 on the Christian Hit Radio charts), “It’s Still the Cross” (which also hit #1), “I’ll Meet You on the Mountain” and many more. In 2001, Buddy moved into solo ministry, traveling to churches and other mission fields from Brazil to Albania. He and his family now serve the Chapel at Crosspoint in Santa Rosa Beach.

Congrats to all of the players that competed in the 8th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament in Rosemary Beach. This year’s event is presented by The Pearl.

DennyfitOn Sunday, November 10th, Pandora’s of Grayton Beach is hosting a “Denny-fit” for everyone’s favorite doorman, Denny Green.

Denny recently underwent major surgery on his leg after being injured while on the job. Proceeds from the party will help Denny on his road to recovery.

All the fun — including live music by local favorites! — starts at 5pm.

We all wish Denny a very speedy recovery, and we hope locals can attend this fun party to show your support!

AFABarber & Gall Promotions announced they will produce a unique art auction event, Artists for Animals, to benefit two local charities, Alaqua Animal Refuge and Sinfonia Gulf Coast.

The event–benefiting hungry animals and starving artists–will take place this Thursday, November 14th, from 5:30pm until 8:30pm. It will be held at Grayt Grounds of Monet Monet in Grayton Beach.

Throughout the last few months, various local and regional artists were invited to create individual works of art in various mediums, while drawing inspiration from music, animals or both. Nearly 40 fabulous pieces of art will be auctioned off at the Artists for Animals event. Attendees will not only be able to browse and bid on various one-of-a-kind pieces of art, but also sample the fabulous fare at four “chow” stations, all while enjoying the open bar. Members of Sinfonia will also entertain guests with a special performance that evening.

Alys Beach 5K

The Alys Beach 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run is this Sunday, September 1st. The 5K starts at 8am, while the 1-Miler for children 12 and under starts at 9:30am. It’s all to benefit Seaside School Foundation.

Online registration is available through midnight on Friday, August 30th, while remaining registrations will be sold on Saturday from 10-2pm at Fonville Press.

Packet pick-up is also from 10-2pm on Saturday, August 31 at Fonville Press or from from 6:30-7:30am on Sunday, September 1 in Alys Beach’s Amphitheatre. No registrations are available on race day!

The cost is $35 for the the 5K online, and $50 on Saturday. The 1-Mile registrations are just $10 online or $20 on Saturday.
