The working families of Walton County rely on the economy of tourism. Stewardship of this coastal paradise is made possible through tourism revenues and taxes collected on overnight stays, known as bed taxes.
In Walton County, tourism is the number one industry, bringing about $2.8 trillion into our local economy, creating more than 19,500 jobs, and providing about $8.9 million for ongoing and planned destination improvements, according to the TDC.
“The exceptional collection of local South Walton businesses have a special appeal to travelers and has elevated this destination to one of Florida’s Top Destinations,” said Angela Vaughn, public relations coordinator at Visit South Walton, the marketing department of the TDC. “This past June you recommended businesses as the best of the best in South Walton, each one celebrates and adds to the unique lifestyle we call South Walton.”
