Kick Off the New Year with a Polar Bear Plunge!

If you haven’t gotten in on this fun tradition, now’s your chance. Kick the year off right with the South Walton Fire District‘s Polar Bear Plunge.

Registration will be open On Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar. Come dressed in your best and qualify for a prize for best costume. Winners will be announced at the Shunk Gulley stage at 12:15 p.m.

The plunge will start promptly at 1 p.m. at Ed Walline Regional Beach Access across from Gulf Place in Santa Rosa Beach.

Each New Years Day, scores of people jump into the chilly Gulf of Mexico water. Some plungers wear costumes, others come out early to huddle around the bonfire before taking their dips. 

After the plunge, celebrate with the community at Shunk Gulley Green space and enjoy live music!

A $20 donation is suggested, as all proceeds will supper free CPR classes for the community.

This event is open to all ages, and attendees are encouraged to bring a change of clothes. Following the plunge, guests will enjoy food, music and a bonfire.
