SATURDAY: Racers Run, Bike and Swim to Finish at Sandestin Triathlon

This Saturday, more than 500 racers will come out to South Walton to run, bike and swim at the 30th annual Sandestin Triathlon, one of the biggest athletic traditions in Northwest Florida.

Racers complete a half-mile swim in the Gulf of Mexico, a 20-mile bike ride along U.S. Highway 98 and Scenic Highway 30-A and a four-mile run through Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

Even if you haven’t trained up, come out to watch and cheer on the racers.

And if you’re out on the roads, expect some morning closures. One eastbound lane on U.S. Highway 98 from the entrance to Sandestin to the intersection with Scenic Highway 30A will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

All lanes of Scenic Highway 30A from the western intersection with U.S. Highway 98 south to Big Daddy’s Bike Shop in Blue Mountain Beach will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., as well.

Proceeds from this year’s race benefit Sandestin Foundation For Kids.
