9/24/12 UPDATE: The 5K is SOLD OUT, and there are fewer than 800 slots remaining for the Half Marathon.

The Seaside School Foundation recently opened registration for the annual Seaside Half Marathon and 5K event which will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013.

Presented again by Vera Bradley, the Seaside Race attracts runners from around the country and is one of the signature fundraising events for the Seaside School, an award-winning public charter school in South Walton County.

Registration will be limited to 2,800 runners for the half marathon and 900 participants for the 5K.

Race organizers are pleased to be working with many sponsors to make this event a success, including 30A.com. The events will be held along Scenic Highway 30A at Alys Beach and in Seaside.

Registration packages include a special Vera Bradley gift, a moisture wicking technical shirt, a goodie bag, and a meal and drinks provided by Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, with live music following the race at the Seaside Amphitheater. All proceeds from the events benefit Seaside School.

The race weekend will kick off on March 1, 2013 with a signature event: An Evening for Education Under the Stars at Caliza Pool in Alys Beach. Events will go through the weekend with a special Expo of exhibits and sponsors on Saturday, March 2 and concluding with the half marathon and 5K Run on Sunday, March 3.

Seaside School (also known as the Seaside Neighborhood School) opened its doors in 1996, and serves students in sixth through ninth grade with a vision to expand to elementary and high school grade levels. Seaside School is ranked third among 583 middle schools in the state of Florida.
