Double Red Flag Alert: Walton County Water is Closed

Double Red Flag conditions mean that you should NOT enter the water.

CONDITIONS ARE UPDATED AT LEAST TWICE DAILY.

Because of the oncoming storm, the current beach flag condition is DOUBLE RED. While beaches are still open, ALL WATER IS CLOSED in Walton County. Life-threatening surf and rip currents will be forming over the next few hours, so stay on dry sand until further notice. To ensure the safety of our visitors and residents, entering the Gulf of Mexico is strictly prohibited.

Please note that tickets can be issued to anyone in the Gulf of Mexico when double flags are flown. Surfers with proper boards and gear are allowed to enter under county ordinance, but lifeguards, emergency personnel and law officers are allowed to prohibit surfers as well if they appear to be presenting a danger to themselves. Please do not risk your life – and the lives of rescuers – by taking any chances. For more information about beach safety or rip currents, please go to VisitSouthWalton.com/safety. Text “SAFETY” to 31279 to get the flag conditions on your phone. For more information, visit swfd.org/beach.php.
