Description

Celebrate Coastal Dune Lake Appreciation month at Deer Lake State Park! Join fellow nature lovers on a Deer Lake Restoration Tour to visit several restored wet prairies. Tours are available October 18th & 20th with a start time of 9AM.

Attendees are asked to meet at The Big Chill (7000 E County 30A, Watersound, FL 32461) before driving to the State Park as a group with a short walk to the restoration areas. The ground will be wet and muddy. Recommended to bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray and wear closed-toed shoes.

With grant funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s (NFWF) Gulf Environmental Fund (GEBF), the Florida State Parks and Atlanta Botanical Garden have partnered up to restore highly diverse wetland ecosystems within three coastal dune lake watersheds. On this tour, attendees will visit several of these sites to show off and discuss the incredible work done by both organizations.
