Dine with Amber Rubarth, Indie Music Scene Darling

1379416_434921369947969_1040519854_nAfter a successful 10th European tour, Amber Rubarth, the New York-based darling of the indie music scene is coming to 30A for a special dinner-concert at Grayton Bar & Grill Nov 14, at 6:15 p.m.

Tickets for this special evening are $50 per person inclusive of a three-course meal and complimentary Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The evening will start with a Johnny Earles three-course culinary feast followed at 7:00 p.m. by an evening of the pitch-perfect, sultry sound of Amber Rubarth whose most recent album, Sessions from the 17th Ward debuted last October. Rubarth, a former chain saw sculptor who taught herself to play guitar, was the 2010 grand prize winner in NPR’s prestigious Mountain Stage NewSong Contest.

Amber’s lyrics, sometimes quirky but always on the mark, coupled with a voice that ranges from crisp and sweet to melancholic and sensual,
makes this mid-November special event the perfect evening for a delicious Johnny Earles meal and intimate concert with Rubarth.

The menu starts with Blue Corn & Grilled Shrimp Bisque and is followed by Rosemary Roasted Organic Chicken with Pumpkin Risotto and finishes with a Warm Apple Pecan Betty with Bourbon Caramel Gelato.

After dinner, Amber Rubarth will take on the stage and will perform some of her recent hits. Talking about Amber’s appeal as a singer, Huffington Post wrote, she is “Part of the new old-soul generation” and the Boston Globe ensured, “You will leave with a crush on her.”

She has sung duets with both Jason Mraz and Jason Reeves and made appearances with such musical legends as Emmylou Harris, Loudin Wainwrigth III, Kenny Loggins, Jackson Browne, Colin Hay, Dave Eggar and Lisa Loeb.

“The beguiling delicacy of Rubarth’s voice is especially apparent in her reverent takes on the work of Tom Waits, Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, and The Carter Family. These covers meld seamlessly with Rubarth’s original material, playing an important role in the cohesiveness of the album. Waits’ Hold On opens the set, and The Carter Family’s Storms Are On The Ocean ends it, both almost lullabies, solidifying the thread that carries the essential message of perseverance.”

Amber Rubarth first came to 30A when she wrote and performed at Studio b. with Emily Robison and Martie Maguire (Dixie Chicks) of the Courtyard Hounds in 2011 and again in 2012 on the Ivy League Hillbillies Tour. This special Grayton Bar & Grill evening is produced in conjunction with Studio b. founder, Colleen Duffley, of Colleen Duffley Productions.
