The Shape of Water: Exciting New Technologies for On and In the Water

There has been an incredible rise in water technologies recently, each one adding new levels of entertainment to your water-based fun.

What are the newest items out there for water lovers? We think this list is a great place to start.

Full Face Snorkeling

While it looks like a modified hockey mask, the full face Tribord Easybreath is a fantastic innovation in the world of snorkeling.

It offers the ability to breathe naturally through the nose and mouth as well as giving you a 180 degree view of the ocean around you.

It has demisting technology so you won’t have a restricted view from your breathing, and the air intake only allows air through, no water, so you don’t have to worry about your mask filling with water and ruining your fun. (Editor’s Note: Be sure you are purchasing or renting safe and well-tested products as there have been some low quality products being sold online and best to use fully tested underwater gear such as this. Licensed dive shops will have full information.)

Oceanwings Wetsuit

Billed as “the underwater human flight experience,” this suit is indulgent and from all accounts AWESOME.

It allows divers to get closer to the creatures under the water due to the reduced need for movement when using the Oceanwings.

With this suit there is less chance of startling the sea life, and they are more likely to let you observe them up. You will experience the most natural under sea experience you can imagine.

FutureFlex Surfboards

If you’re a fan of surfing then the FutureFlex is the top of the new class.

The FutureFlex is designed to store energy as a surfer leans into a turn and then release it coming out of the turn.

This surfboard combines science and surfing to create something pro surfers are describing as “the Ferrari of surfboards.”

Biki, An Underwater Drone

The next logical step in drone technology is an underwater drone and that is exactly what Biki is.

A Kickstarter project that is now taking orders, Biki has the ability to dive up to 60 meters deep, can swim at 2 km per hour and has a 4K camera equipped.

Biki can record up to two hours of video at a time, and you can choose whether it followed a pre-decided path or if you control it manually. If you want a diving partner, won’t argue about the route then Biki is perfect for you.

The Powerbreather

Another new snorkeling innovation, this one aimed at power snorklers.

The Powerbreather is a hi-tech sports snorkel with two separate channels, one for inhaling and one for exhaling.

This makes it a lot easier to use for swimming laps and for speed, letting you concentrate on gliding through the water like one of the big fish out there.
