30A Beach Visitor Guide for 2021 with COVID-19 Guidelines

By: Shannon Serpette | Posted Feb 9, 2021
Thousands of people have already showed up here in January to enjoy the beaches of 30A, and with Spring Break 2021 just around the corner, many more will arrive soon. Before you head to Florida’s Scenic Highway 30A in 2021, there are a few things you should know about the current COVID-19 travel situation, as we all continue to do our best to navigate this global pandemic.

Are Scenic Highway 30A Beaches Open?

YES. As of this moment, all beaches and businesses are open along Scenic Highway 30A, and we currently don’t have any reason to believe that will change as Spring Break 2021 approaches. But, as we’ve all seen, guidelines and restrictions can change from day to day, depending upon COVID-19 developments. Please bookmark this page now so you can refer back to it before your vacation, to ensure you have the very latest information. Local, State and Federal authorities will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, and we will post all important info, changes or restrictions here.

Traveling To and From The Beach

If you’re traveling through other states on your way to the beaches along Florida’s Scenic Highway 30A, be sure to educate yourself on any special restrictions mandated by the states you’ll be passing through. For example, some states currently don’t allow travelers who are “just passing through” to dine indoors. States and localities can also change their restrictions and requirements overnight, so it’s best to do a little research in advance if you’ll need to cross multiple state lines to get here. It’s a good idea to keep hand sanitizer and face masks handy for those necessary road-trip bathroom breaks. If you plan to spend the night in a hotel along the way, bring some disinfectant wipes to wipe down room surfaces before you unpack. Pay special attention to wiping down often-used surfaces, such as doorknobs, locks, toilet handles, remote controls, lamps, nightstands, light switches, dresser drawer handles, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers and shower handles.

Social Distancing at the Beach During COVID-19

To help protect yourself and others, visitors and locals alike are asked to follow social distancing guidelines by staying at least six feet away from others. Someone near you may look healthy, but perhaps their child or grandparents back at the condo are especially high risk. If the beach is crowded, place a few beach towels around you to “stake out” a small 6-foot radius area that will help ensure a safe distance from others. In general, avoid busy beaches and peak beach hours. Also, if you decide to go for a swim, please remember to keep a safe distance from other swimmers. COVID-19 doesn’t know the difference between land and water!

Masks and Other COVID-19 Safety Measures

Social distancing alone is not enough to guarantee that you won’t get sick while on vacation. In addition to your standard sunblock, hat, sunglasses, and water, consider adding hand sanitizer and a mask to your 2021 beach bag. Authorities ask that you please wear a mask when possible, especially in cases when you are not able to stay six feet away from others, some of whom have “at-risk” loved ones in their families. Other best practices include thoroughly washing your hands often for a minimum of 20 seconds and not touching your face or rubbing your eyes. If you start to feel sick while you’re here at the beach, please isolate yourself immediately to help protect others.

Food and Fun During COVID-19

Outdoor dining at Louis Louis If you’re looking for fun things to do while here on the beaches along Scenic 30A, look no farther than our 30A events calendar and/or download our 30A free mobile apps for iPhone and Android. Not only do we list every local event for your convenience, but you can also find information about 30A restaurants, webcams, activities, shopping, and much more. Many of our local 30A restaurants offer outdoor/ patio dining. Call ahead to make reservations and while you’re there, please remember to maintain the recommended distance from other diners and guests. If an establishment such as a store, resort, or restaurant mandates masks or special COVID-19 policies, please respect their rules. It’s their place of business after all, and you don’t know what personal health circumstances the owners and their employees might have back home. If you do not agree with a particular establishment’s rules, use the opportunity to visit one of 30A’s many other wonderful places. We have so many wonderful places to choose from!

Beach and Outdoor Activities During COVID-19

One of the wonderful things about vacationing along Scenic Highway 30A is having access to so many different kinds of outdoor activities. With beautiful scenery and weather to be found virtually any time of the year, there’s always something fun to do outside. Take a picnic, stroll on the beach, explore the state forest on a 30A electric bike, get adventurous with water sports, go fishing, or even rent a boat. If you follow all of the previous guidelines, you certainly won’t have any trouble finding something fun and safe to do, despite the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ultimately, make the most of your time here. Relax, sink your toes in the sand, breathe deep, soak in some healthy sunshine, and enjoy some of our deliciously fresh local seafood. In short, BEACH HAPPY!
