“I caught my first wave in third grade. Today is my thirtieth birthday and I have, literally, been doing this ever since,” said Davis, who grew up in Northwest Florida. Besides surfing all over the place, Davis spent years traveling the country as a professional skim boarder.
Recently he made his way home to Northwest Florida where he has set up shop on 30A to share his adventurous water-bound spirit with others. Last month, he and his business partner, Charles Kolopanas, started 30A Adventures, which offers surf and skim boarding lessons, paddle-board tours, kayak and bike rentals, custom skateboards and more.
Davis said he still remembers like it was yesterday the thrill of catching his first wave, seeing it rolling out in front of him. He’s found he loves teaching kids — and adults too — so they can get that same feeling.
“They are just so stoked,” Davis said. “They learned something new.”
With just a few hours, Davis said, he can get almost anyone up on a board, riding a wave in the relative calm of the Gulf of Mexico.
30A Adventures also rents paddle boards and offers lessons on Eastern Lake, hosts a kids’ surf camp, and will eventually have some guided eco tours.
They have a brand new fleet of beach cruisers available for rent, which come outfitted with LED lights that can be programmed into a variety of lit-up images, making riding at night more fun — and more safe.
