An unprecedented gathering of 30A artists, photographers and more have come together to present Rising Tides, an art show benefit on Friday, December 7 from 5-9 p.m. at Monet Monet in Grayton Beach.
All sales will help support the artists affected by Hurricane Michael.
When she learned that Floriopolis, a long established consignment art gallery in St. Andrews, was heavily damaged in the hurricane, local photographer Dawn Chapman Whitty knew how devastating this loss was to her fellow artists. With over half of the artwork in the gallery destroyed, Whitty and fellow photographers Jack Gardner, Shelly Swanger and Chandler Williams came together, and the Rising Tides benefit was born.
“A group of us drove over to the Floriopolis gallery in St. Andrews, met with Heather Parker the proprietor, and brought back all of the art that was not damaged,” said local photographer Jack Gardner.
Dan Bailey of Amavida Coffee offered his roaster in South Walton as temporary storage for the artwork, all of which will be on display during the Rising Tides event.
The art show benefit includes both intact and salvaged artwork for sale from the Floriopolis roster of more than 100 artists from Northwest Florida. All proceeds from the event will go to helping the affected artists through the Floriopolis Community Arts Metropolis based in historic St. Andrews.
Admission to the event is FREE. Guests will enjoy live music and hors d’oeuvres. There will be a cash bar at the venue.
Some of the 30A artists donating their works are Dawn Chapman Whitty, Jack Gardner, Shelly Swanger, Anne Hunter Galleries, Chandler Williams, Andy Saczinski, Justin Gaffrey, Rachel Herring, Allison Wickey, Woodie Long and so many more!
