South Walton’s Volunteer Beach Ambassador program is hoping to grow their team from 80 to 100 members before the summer season is over.
What does a Beach Ambassador do? 30A’s Carley Funderburk recently visited with the organization’s founder, Laurie Reichenbach to learn more:
“We’re looking for anyone who wants to be a part of a positive force welcoming those visiting our beaches, has a willingness to answer questions and a desire to help educate people to leave the beach better than the way they found it,” said Laurie Reichenbach, committee chairperson of the program.
Membership is only $5 and once you complete the training, you will receive a Beach Ambassador t-shirt and begin your work with the team. The Volunteer Beach Ambassador program is a subcommittee of The Friends of South Walton Sea Turtles.
If you’re interested in becoming a Volunteer Beach Ambassador, the next training will take place July 19th at 6:30 p.m. at the Coastal Branch Library.
