Inaugural “Great American Picnic” at Watersound Origins a Great Success

The inaugural Great American Picnic was held at Watersound Origins on Sunday, with an estimated 700 guests in attendance.

The free community event featured several sets of live music by 30A’s Forrest Williams Band. There were tons of family-friendly activities to keep all of the kids engaged, including relay races, face-painting, Bocce ball, a photo booth, and even a make-your-own-kite class. Guests also participated in a Scavenger Hunt, with the winner taking home a brand new YOLO Board.

Classic picnic food and beverages were available for purchase at several tents, including BBQ plates, shrimp po’boys, snacks and cold draft beer. Watersound Origins’ new restaurant, Origins Cafe, was also there offering free sampler plates to guests. Of course, families were welcome to pack their own picnic baskets and coolers, although proceeds from food and beverage sales went to benefit Food for Thought and Alaqua Animal Refuge, both of which were there participating in the fun. The 30A Gear Truck was also on-hand, selling official 30A shirts, hats and other merchandise. The evening ended with a truly spectacular fireworks show over Wind Garden Park.

Congrats and sincere thanks go out to the Watersound Origins team for hosting such a fun, family-friendly event! The Great American Picnic will no doubt become another classic South Walton tradition.
