Sunday, May 22 – 8th Annual 30A Locals Last Stand Party!
Posted May 22, 2022
30A’s 8th annual Locals Last Stand party will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 3 to 7 p.m. at its new location in Watersound Town Center Pavilion. It’s your one last chance to enjoy some community fun before the mad dash of the summer season kicks off.
Local food trucks and vendors will also be available, including Taco 30A Food Truck. More vendors will be announced soon.
“The original idea behind Locals Last Stand was simply to throw a free, no-pressure party for locals to enjoy,” said The 30A Company‘s Mike Ragsdale.
“It’s just fun no-frills afternoon to hang out with family and friends before the madness of Memorial Day weekend.”
The inaugural Locals Last Stand was held in 2013 and featured Dread Clampitt, The Forrest Williams Band and Cadillac Willy. In 2014, the party featured music by The Scott Rockwood Trio, Boukou Groove and The Wildlife Specials. 2015 featured Geoff McBride, The Owsley Brothers and Zack Rosicka, while 2016 event hosted Shatzi + The String Boffin, The Rips, and Hubba Hubba taking the stage. The 2017 party had Duck Phat, Mose Wilson and the Delta Twang, and The Wide Open headlining the event. The 2019 event drew the biggest crowd yet with Dread Clampitt, Huck And Lilly + Chris Alvarado Music. The event was canceled the last two years due to the pandemic but 2022 is sure to be another memorable party!
“We’ve celebrated so many of our local musicians with this event,” said Ragsdale. “There have been some really magical moments, and this year will be no different.”
FUN times at our Locals Last Stand party at Watersound Origins
Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and bug spray to enjoy an afternoon and evening of fun on the green lawn at Watersound Town Center Pavilion. If you want to enjoy the food trucks, bring some cash to grab a bite. The fun starts at 3 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m.
“Watersound is such a young and wonderful community, and it’s fun thinking that Locals Last Stand is one of the neighborhood’s pioneering annual event,” said Ragsdale. “As the community grows, so will this new tradition.”
Update: Even though the 2022 30A Locals Last Stand got rained out, as you can see, we still had some pre-party fun:
