Children’s Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) will host their second annual Smile Mile and 5K race on May 12, 2018. Presented by St. Joe Community Foundation, the race starts and ends at Watercolor Marina Park located in Santa Rosa Beach.
The CVHN signature event is fun-for-all ages and will help raise funds that will directly affect the health and well-being of kids in Walton and Okaloosa Counties.
With over 20 percent of children in both counties living at poverty levels, the Network provides for children who otherwise would have nowhere to turn for medical, dental and vision care.

“We are encouraging fundraising teams of participants to band together in support of CVHN,” said Mike Gavigan, race chair and chair of the board for CVHN. “We would love to see participants of all ages and abilities join us for the CVHN Smile Mile and 5K.”
The 5K and Smile Mile race entry fee is $35 for adults and $20 for kids (18 and under). T-shirts are limited to early registration.
Unusual for races in South Walton, this race is a stroller-friendly event — a measure to encourage family participation.
5K participants will start at 7:30 AM and head west on Western Lake, turn right on Buttercup, then right onto on 30A with a turnaround point at Wilderness Way. The Smile Mile is also known as the ‘Fastest Mile on 30A’ and starts at 8:15 AM. “We call it the Fastest Mile on 30A because we want it to be a competitive run, and a fun run; a short distance to sprint among stellar Watercolor scenery,” said Gavigan.
After the race, participants will enjoy music by DJ 30A, food, and beer provided by Grayton Beer Company.
Awards and prizes will be given for the fastest runners and two grand prizes will be awarded to the largest registered team and the most funds raised for CVHN by a team.
