Finding a cool place to relax isn’t always by the pool or in the gulf. Sometimes you can find adventure just a short drive away at Cypress Spring, one of the most beautiful natural springs in Northwest Florida.
Located in Washington County, Cypress Spring is a natural cold-water spring that consistently stays at 68-70 degrees.
Taylor Elliot started his eco-tour company Coldwater Excursions in 2015. He takes small groups to Holmes Creek/Cypress Spring and Econfina almost daily. “I started coming out here 10 years ago. To me, this is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I prefer it myself over the beach,” Elliot said.
Because the land surrounding the spring is private property, it is only accessible by water. So to reach it, guests choose between a kayak, paddleboard or canoe as their method of transportation. It’s an easy 20-minute paddle down Holmes Creek, but Elliot recommends kids ages 12 and under pair with an adult in a canoe or tandem kayak.
