Emerald Coast Storytellers, a new local writing community, will host their second monthly Open Mic on Thursday, August 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Distillery 98.

“Whether you’re looking to tell a story, share a work in progress, read another writer’s work that rocked your world, find your audience, build your tribe, get feedback, or simply get outside of your comfort zone, consider this your sign,” said Kristy Gustafson of Emerald Coast Storytellers.

The event will feature live storytelling, special guests, an opportunity for connection, and craft cocktails courtesy of Distillery 98. Anyone interested in taking the mic is encouraged to sign-up in advance. They have ten 5-minute slots available, and all story genres are welcome.

The 30A Company’s Mike Ragsdale will be this month’s featured storyteller. He’ll share his passion project, Holier Than Thou, and all registered guests will receive a free copy of his graphic novel. Register here. 

Ragsdale is the author of Holier Than Thou, a graphic novel that he created with artist Pablo Arias of Chile. The storyline was inspired by one of Ragsdale’s favorite Mark Twain quotes and tells the saga of the Devil’s mid-life crisis.

All pre-registered attendees of this month’s Open Mic will receive a free, first-edition hardcover copy of Holier Than Thou.
