Pursuing art isn’t always a walk on the beach. In some cases, we set out on a course with absolutely no clue what we’re doing. Sometimes our wells of inspiration fill up only to run dry. Sometimes we just want to surround ourselves with people in the same boat, or better yet, those who have found success in the hopes that a little of their magic might rub off on us.

If you’re a writer, current or aspiring, and any (or all) of these apply to you, then we may just have the sign you’ve been looking for.

Longleaf Writers Conference returns to 30A May 14-21, 2022 and registration is filling up fast.

For nearly a decade, Longleaf has brought together award-winning authors, poets, agents, editors and emerging talent for a week of workshops, seminars, bonfires, sunsets and brilliance. And this year is no exception.

The 2022 visiting writers feature a lineup of true talent in Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Nickole Brown, Dustin Parsons, Katy Simpson Smith, David James Poissant, Jessica Jacobs, Matt Bondurant, Seth Brady Tucker and more.

This is an incredible opportunity for all levels to celebrate writing, to network, and to hone your craft in a beautiful setting among generous and celebrated writers and poets. Other components of the conference include the Scholars and Fellows Program, including the Celia Baker Veteran Scholarship, as well as their “Writers in the Classroom” outreach program where they visit local public schools and encourage early exposure to the arts.

“The Longleaf Writers Conference is among the finest conferences I’ve ever had the honor to attend. It’s unquestionably the most enviably located. With its home on the beach in Seaside, Florida, and with its sunsets and sand and surf, it’s the closest you’ll get to paradise at a writers’ conference. I can’t promise you’ll see manatees or swim with sea turtles (though, I did), but I can promise you world-class faculty, generous guest agents and editors, and a flexible schedule that permits time for writing and socializing. Who could ask for anything more?” said David James Poissant.

Writing inspiration awaits, as well as the chance to form life-long friendships and new writing relationships along the way.

Attendees have the option of a full conference pass or a la carte options that allow you to pick and choose between various seminars, workshops, and events.

Come escape to the beach, even if it’s your own backyard, for the ultimate, laidback writer’s retreat that’s sure to light that fire you’ve been waiting for.
