Special Olympics ‘Stand Up Paddle’ Practice Session
The mission of Special Olympics Florida is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. It gives them the continuing opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families and other Special Olympic athletes.
Walton County’s program is in need of Basketball Coaches for the 2014 Basketball Program, which commences on January 6th. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kim Christopher at (850) 525-3155 or Drew Geoghagan at (850) 333-1829.
The program is open to Special Needs Children over the age of eight and Special Needs adults in Walton County, and is provided at no cost to the athlete. One-hour practice sessions begin the week of January 6th, and all games are on Saturday mornings. Games are from January 18th to February 22nd.
All athletes are required to complete a Special Olympics athlete registration form, which includes a sports physical from a doctor. All completed forms may be mailed to: Special Olympics Walton County, 790 N. County Highway 393, Building 2C, Suite 6, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.
