What began as a small fundraiser for the Seaside Neighborhood School is now a cherished annual tradition, with tickets for the races selling out months in advance.
Each year, the weather can be wonderfully warm or cheerfully chilly, but one thing is consistent: The scenic early morning dash across South Walton’s majestic coastal dune lakes brings fitness fans back from around the globe, year after year.
After the race is over, exhausted medal-toting runners are treated to a free live concert in Seaside’s amphitheater, slow-cooked barbecue, hand-blown glass trophies for category winners and Vera Bradley handbags (Vera Bradley is the tradition’s Presenting Sponsor).
The night before the race, the Seaside school hosts a special spaghetti dinner and silent auction. All proceeds from the dinner and race benefit our local school, which was Northwest Florida’s first charter school and is dependent on fundraisers like this to continue operating.
The 30A Network (which includes 30A.com and SouthWalton.com, among other sites) is a very proud sponsor of Seaside Neighborhood School and Seaside’s 5K and Half-Marathon event.
