Kiley Miller: Balancing Motherhood, Fitness, and a Positive Mindset for a Fresh Start
Small Steps, Big Wins!
Small Steps, Big Wins!
When you first meet Kiley Miller, it’s easy to see why so many people are drawn to her warmth and enthusiasm. With her cheerful authenticity and upbeat attitude, she has a way of making fitness feel approachable and even exciting, no matter where you’re starting from.
Her Instagram is a fun mix of practical workout tips, adorable moments with her husband, snapshots of new motherhood, and sun-soaked beach days. But behind the pretty posts is a story of determination, passion, and a willingness to grow.
With the New Year approaching, Kiley sat down with us to share her top tips for health and happiness. She also offered a glimpse into the life of a mom, wife, and fitness influencer juggling it all.
The New Year often comes with a double-edged sword: the promise of fresh starts paired with the overwhelming weight of resolutions. The pressure to transform overnight can leave many feeling stuck or aimless. It’s easy to get caught up in all-or-nothing thinking, where every step forward feels overshadowed by the distance to your goal.
That’s where keeping things fun and simple makes all the difference. Instead of trying to change everything at once, start with one small habit that feels doable. Something as straightforward as walking 6,000 steps a day can have an enormous impact—not just physically but mentally too. By setting small, achievable goals, you create momentum, and that momentum can propel you into bigger wins as the weeks go by.
“It’s all about breaking it down into things that fit your life,” said Kiley.
“Set a timer for 15 minutes and move your body the entire time.
I personally would do squats for a minute, planks for a minute, dumbbell rows for a minute, walking lunges for a minute, and biceps curl-to-overhead press for a minute. Then repeat that circuit three times through. You could easily get away with one set of dumbbells for that whole circuit too, which helps the time element even more.”
It’s also important to shift how you think about change. Healthy choices shouldn’t feel like punishments. Rather than focusing on what you “should” do, reframe it as something you get to do, like nourishing your body with wholesome meals, savoring a short morning walk, or carving out time for a quick workout.
So, if the New Year feels like a whirlwind, don’t panic. Start small, focus on progress over perfection, and remember that the New Year is about building something sustainable, not just sprinting to an arbitrary finish line.
Kiley herself is proof that big things can grow from small beginnings. Today, she’s a successful fitness influencer with a loyal community, but her love for movement started in childhood.
“I grew up loving to be active. I was a gymnast as a kid, always doing cartwheels in the yard or handstands against the wall,” she said. But when gymnastics ended, she found herself with energy to spare—and nowhere to channel it.
Enter her local YMCA. “It was love at first sight,” Kiley recalled. “College was when I really fell in love with strength training. I worked at the gym all through school, and people would ask if I competed in bodybuilding. Eventually, I thought, why not try?”
In 2016, just as the influencer world was taking off, Kiley began sharing her fitness journey online. What started as a way to document her progress and snag some free supplements—“Those were definitely not in my college budget!” she adds—quickly blossomed into a thriving career.
“By 2017, my account was really growing. I hoped to inspire people by sharing my journey, and it’s been such a blessing to connect with so many people.”
Ask anyone about the influencer life, and chances are you’ll hear more skepticism than praise. But Kiley is refreshingly candid about the ups and downs.
“I’m majorly a structure and schedule lover, and I love having people holding me accountable to that schedule. Once I quit my 9-to-5 three years ago, I was worried about staying accountable and concerned that people in my community would find it off-putting that I didn’t work a normal 9-to-5 anymore,” she said.
Her honesty about how much perception matters is refreshing. “I think we all tell ourselves not to care what others think, but the truth is, as a creator and influencer, you’re inevitably going to care about people’s perception of you and the choices you make,” she said.
Between building her brand and raising her daughter, Kiley doesn’t have much free time these days. Her secret? Planning ahead.
“I’m big on using a physical planner. If I tried to plan on my phone, I’d end up opening TikTok instead—every time.” Her mornings are sacred, too. “I get up a few hours before my baby so I can have some slow ‘me’ time in the morning before my baby gets up. Usually, this means I’m up around 4:30 or 5 a.m., after her final nighttime feeding, and while it was hard at first, the time I get to myself in the morning helps me be a better mom all day because I’m able to fill my cup before she’s up!”
For Kiley, January is a golden opportunity to set meaningful goals—and she believes the key to success is simple: accountability.
“You’ve got to write it down and tell people,” she said. “I’m big on visualization. Make a vision board. Speak it into existence. Last year, I put ‘motherhood’ on my board, and weeks later, I found out I was pregnant!”
Her advice for beginners? Start small and stay consistent. Walking, for example, is one of the easiest ways to improve your health. “Research shows walking 6,000 to 10,000 steps a day dramatically reduces early mortality,” said Kiley. “If it’s too cold outside, get a walking pad—it’s a game changer.”
Pressed for time? Kiley swears by her 15-minute workout circuit: “Do squats, planks, dumbbell rows, lunges, and biceps curls for a minute each, then repeat three times. You can do it with just one set of dumbbells, so there’s no excuse!”
And when motivation fades?
“I remind myself how much better I feel after moving my body. It’s a gift I give myself and my family.”
If the term “meal prep” makes you groan, Kiley’s no-nonsense approach to nutrition is for you. “I’m not a great cook,” she laughed. “So I keep it simple. Protein, fat, and carbs at every meal.”
For Kiley, it’s not about fancy recipes but practicality. “I would honestly suggest just keeping things simple and prep yourself some carbs/protein to have for the week, like rice or potatoes and beef/chicken, then adding in fat to that is usually as simple as ghee or avocado for me personally.”
And when it comes to indulgence, Kiley’s philosophy is refreshingly guilt-free. “Most of us can have the foods we want, we just need to be more aware of what a serving size of those looks like and how many days a week realistically we could be having those.”
Her go-to breakfast? Avocado on sourdough toast with eggs and fruit. Dinner might be gnocchi with ground beef, and snacks are equally straightforward—think cottage cheese with fruit or dates paired with cheddar cheese.
For those with busy schedules, Kiley advises prepping staples like rice, potatoes, or chicken in advance. “Add healthy fats like ghee or avocado, and you’ve got a balanced meal in minutes.”
When it comes to indulgence, Kiley lives by the 80/20 rule.
“Most of my meals are whole and nutrient-dense, but if I want a treat, I let myself have it. Life’s too short to skip the Dairy Queen Blizzard!”
She emphasizes that indulgences don’t need to derail your goals. “Enjoy your treat, and don’t punish yourself for it. Balance is everything.”
For Kiley, movement isn’t just about looking good—it’s about feeling good. “Not working out for six weeks postpartum was one of the hardest times of my life. The minute I was cleared to exercise again, my mood improved tenfold.”
She credits Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret with helping her maintain a positive mindset. “It taught me that what you focus on becomes your reality. When you speak positively and focus on gratitude, you attract more good things into your life.”
Becoming a mom has reshaped Kiley’s outlook on health. “I want to be healthy for my daughter—for her to see me as an example of balance and wellness. Whether it’s nourishing my body for breastfeeding or showing her that exercise is fun, she inspires me to be my best self.”
That commitment extends to setting the tone for her household. “I try to keep my mornings productive and my evenings calm. A clean space helps me feel less chaotic, and staying off my phone at night makes such a difference.”
Kiley also emphasizes the importance of being present. “These days, I don’t watch much TV or listen to podcasts. I’m just soaking up this season with my daughter, and it’s been refreshing.”
In 2025, Kiley’s biggest project is balancing her social media career with being a stay-at-home mom. “It’s a full-time job in itself,” she said. “But I might revisit getting my Pilates certification. I was in the process before I got pregnant.”
Her journey is a testament to the power of small, intentional steps. Each choice—whether it’s a 15-minute workout, a nourishing meal, or a moment of gratitude—builds on the last, creating a life rooted in balance and joy. As Kiley reminds us, embracing progress over perfection is the key to lasting change.
Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, there’s something empowering about setting goals with clarity and purpose. It’s not about predicting the future—it’s about actively shaping it through the choices you make each day. Maybe it means carving out time to cook more meals at home, committing to a walking routine, or exploring an activity that truly lights you up. These seemingly small actions serve as powerful reminders of your worth and potential.
With focus, determination, and a little grace along the way, Kiley’s journey shows us that your dreams aren’t as far off as they might seem. The life you envision isn’t just possible—it’s within your reach.
