Chris Alvarado of Driftwood Guitars, will partner with The 30A Company to produce a one-of-a-kind, custom tenor ukulele. The instrument will be branded with 30A.com themed inlays. The handcrafted piece will be sold exclusively online on 30Agear.com.
The unique ukulele will feature a Ziricote back and sides, which is a Rosewood of Mexican origin. The top will be crafted from Sitka spruce.
The intricate inlay will feature various materials and showcase the 30A area and brand. The official, “for sale,” date will be announced in the next 6-8 weeks.
“I am extremely excited to partner with The 30A Company on this one-of-a-kind piece,” said Chris Alvarado. “I am proud to say that each instrument that I build is not only playable, but it is a true piece of art. I enjoy bringing the instrument to life through handcrafting the piece, as well as the artistry that goes into creating it. It humbles me that these pieces will be passed down from generation to generation. This piece will truly be special, as it will feature another great brand representative of the area in which we live, work and play.”
“Chris’ incredible works of art have found their ways into the hands of such iconic musicians as Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line and many more,” said 30A’s Mike Ragsdale.
“This new creation will no doubt become a stunning addition to some lucky 30A fan’s collection. We can’t wait to show Chris’ work in progress in the weeks ahead.”
Driven by a passion to create one of a kind works of art, Chris Alvarado pours his heart and soul into every instrument he makes. Since founding Driftwood Guitars in 2007, he has been handcrafting guitars that pay tribute to the craftsman of the past, while keeping an eye toward the future of building innovations. Alvarado makes it his goal to get to know every customer that commissions a piece, to build a truly custom instrument; one that not only looks like the guitar they have been dreaming of, but one that feels and sounds far greater than the guitar of their dreams.
Driftwood Guitars is based out of Freeport, Florida and has created pieces for clients throughout the country. In addition to guitars, Alvarado handcrafts ukuleles, mandolins and much more. Alvarado is also the current 2018 Mixed Media Artist of the year for Walton County, FL, through Visit South Walton.
EDITOR’S NOTE: 30A plans to document much of the creation process, so stay tuned for more content on this great new project for Alvarado and Driftwood Guitars, culminating in the first ever 30A Ukulele.
