30A has officially entered the haircare space, and the products are luxurious and eco-chic. Saltie is a line of hair products that use ingredients from the sea to help your hair look and feel its best.
At launch, there are five core products: shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, texturizing spray, and a hair mask.
Let’s take a closer peek at each one:
This lightweight, moisturizing shampoo gently cleanses your hair and scalp. It’s formulated with Saltie’s signature marine botanical complex, which contains B-complex vitamins, amino acids, plant proteins, and minerals, which nourish the hair and promote scalp health.
The perfect complement to Saltie’s shampoo, this lightweight daily conditioner repairs damaged hair, detangles, prevents frizz, and adds shine. It has the same marine botanical complex present in all of the products, as well as the brand’s signature calming sea mist fragrance that’s reminiscent of a day at the beach.
If your hair is particularly prone to tangles, or you have a lot of flyaways, this leave-in conditioner spray detangles, moisturizes, and adds shine—talk about beautiful, healthy hair. It also helps cut down on frizz and split ends, and the marine botanical complex improves microcirculation on your scalp (and blood flow to your hair follicles) and protects and rebuilds hair cuticles. Simply spray and comb through for shiny, frizz-free hair.
If you love the volume your hair takes on when exposed to salt air, this texturizing spray is for you. A beach day in a bottle (without the crunch you get from traditional hairsprays), it’s quick-drying, adds volume, and may just make your hair fuller and thicker if used daily.
News flash: Masks aren’t just for your face. This deeply moisturizing product repairs damaged hair (and protects it against future damage), reduces frizz, and protects against free-radical scalp damage. “Free radicals attack the follicles on the scalp, which results in unhealthy follicles that will die,” Davis said. “Once a follicle dies, hair no longer grows from it.” This product is made with organic coconut oil, and it provides moisture without weighing your hair down.
Since Saltie comes from the same brand that makes shirts out of recycled bottles, it comes as no surprise that these haircare products are sustainable inside and out.
The marine botanical complex inside every product contains a sustainable mix of seaweed, kelp, algae, and organic coconut oil. Saltie products are free of sulfates, parabens, gluten, phthalates, and artificial color. They’re also cruelty-free, and the packaging is made of 100% post-consumer plastic.
Vincent Davis, Principle at Green Beauty, brought this brand to life by using the expertise he’s gained from more than 30 years in the beauty industry. He has worked with hair brands like Bed Head by TIGI, Macadamia Beauty, and Flawless by Gabrielle Union, and formed a partnership with 30A after years of vacationing in the area (rocking a 30A tire cover on his Jeep).
As for what sets Saltie apart from other haircare products on the market, Davis’s answer is simple: ingredients.
“Ingredients matter,” he said. “We’ve been seeing a trend in seaweed, and when I came down to 30A I knew it was a perfect fit. Seaweed is a superfood ingredient, it’s packed with so many vitamins and minerals that aren’t just good for your hair, but more importantly your scalp. To have great hair, you need to have a healthy scalp.”
Early testers of Saltie products have reported having smoother, softer, and fuller hair. The environment and hot hair tools like blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons can open hair cuticles and cause damage, and Saltie’s marine botanical complex can help repair it. “Think of your hair shaft like a greenhouse,” Davis said. “When the glass is broken, the moisture escapes, and that’s when you see dull, dry, frizzy hair. What Saltie does is utilize these amazing ocean-derived ingredients that are sustainable and nourish your hair and scalp.”
