Airports Near 30A Florida: Everything You Need to Know

So you want to visit Florida’s famous Scenic Highway 30A, including the beach resort towns of Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, WaterColor, Watersound, Grayton Beach, and other 30A towns. Whether the beautiful beaches, world-class restaurants, stunning architecture, or the general laid-back vibe (or all of the above!) are calling your name, we’re here to help you make those vacation dreams become reality. And the first step to doing that is figuring out how you’re getting here. Below, we’re sharing details on nearby airports (and the cities that have direct flights), drive markets, and ground transportation. The beach is waiting for you.

Nearby Airports

American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and Allegiant Airlines run direct flights to 30A’s nearby airports, which include:

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP)

Direct flights to Atlanta, Austin (seasonal), Baltimore (seasonal), Charlotte, Chicago (seasonal), Dallas, Denver (seasonal), Houston, Kansas City (seasonal), Nashville, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is a 20-minute drive to Panama City Beach and about a half-hour drive to Rosemary Beach. It has just seven gates, so the check-in and security process is typically pretty painless, and there are direct flights to various hubs across the United States. Major hubs include Atlanta (ATL), Charlotte (CLT), and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). Airlines that service ECP include American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, and United.

Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS)

Direct flights to Boston, Indianapolis, Memphis, Nashville, Newark, St. Louis, and more

The Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport is an approximately 35- to 60-minute drive to Miramar Beach, depending on traffic. They typically offer around 50 nonstop flights daily. Airlines that service VPS include Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta, and Southwest.

For private planes and charters, there are a few options to get to 30A, including:

Located at the south end of Okaloosa County (a 15- to 30-minute drive to Miramar Beach), the Destin Executive Airport serves general aviation needs. Boasting a 5,000-foot runway and full-service amenities, it’s a key transportation resource for private planes and charters.

At ECP, general aviation services are provided by Sheltair Aviation. The company serves as ECP’s exclusive Fixed Base Operator.

VPS does not provide service for private aircraft due to its location on Eglin Air Force Base.

If you don’t already have a private plane, you can charter a private flight through companies like Luxury Aircraft Solutions and Silver Air Private Jets.

Major Feeder Markets

There’s no need to hop on a plane if you live in one of the many Southeast cities that are less than a day’s drive from Scenic Highway 30A. These include Atlanta, New Orleans, Nashville, Birmingham, Jackson, Tallahassee, and Tampa.

Scenic Highway 30A is located approximately 25 miles south of I-10 along Emerald Coast Parkway, with major nearby corridors including I-65, I-55, I-10, and US Hwy 331.

To get here from Atlanta:

Via US-431 S:

1. Get on I-75 S/I-85 S from Memorial Dr. SE, Washington St SW, and Pulliam St SW

2. Continue on I-85 S. Take I-185 S, US-431 S, and US-231 S to FL-273 S in Campbellton

3. Follow FL-273 S to US-90 W/Jackson Ave in Chipley

4. Take FL-79 S to E County Hwy 30A in Walton County

5. Turn left onto E County Hwy 30A

Via I-85 S:

1. Get on I-75 S/I-85 S from Memorial Dr SE, Washington St SW and Pulliam St SW

2. Follow I-85 S and US-231 S to AL-87 S in Troy

3. Follow AL-87 S to By Pass St in Elba

4. Take AL-203 S to Hickman Ave

5. Take AL-189 S, AL-153 S and FL-83 S to E Nelson Ave in DeFuniak Springs

6. Take US-331 S to E County Hwy 30A

7. Turn right onto E County Hwy 30A

To get here from Nashville:

Via I-65 S:

1. Get on I-40 E/I-65 S



2. Follow I-65 S to US-31 S in Montgomery County. Take exit 164 from I-65 S

3. Continue on US-31 S. Take US-331 S, AL-141 S, FL-83 S, US-331 S and US-98 E to E County Hwy 30A in Rosemary Beach

Via I-59 S:

1. Get on I-40 E/I-65 S

2. Follow I-24 E, I-59 S and I-65 S to US-31 S in Montgomery County. Take exit 164 from I-65 S

3. Continue on US-31 S. Take US-331 S, AL-141 S, FL-83 S, US-331 S and US-98 E to E County Hwy 30A in Rosemary Beach

To get here from Dallas:

Via I-20 E:

1. Get on I-30 E from Young St and South St. Paul Street

2. Follow I-20 E to US 49 S in Pearl. Take exit 47A from I-20 E/US 49 S

3. Get on I-59 S in Hattiesburg

4. Continue on I-59 S to US-98 E/US-98 BYP E. Take exit 59 from I-59 S

5. Get on I-65 S in Mobile

6. Follow I-10 E to US-331 S in DeFuniak Springs. Take exit 85 from I-10 E

7. Follow US-331 S and US-98 E to E County Hwy 30A in Rosemary Beach

Via I-10 E:

1. Get on I-30 E from Young St and South St. Paul Street

2. Take I-20 E and I-49 S to US-167 S/US-71 S in Rapides Parish. Take exit 80 from I-49 S

3. Get on I-10 E in West Baton Rouge Parish from US-71 S and U.S. Hwy 190 E

4. Follow I-12 E and I-10 E to US-331 S in DeFuniak Springs. Take exit 85 from I-10 E

5. Follow US-331 S and US-98 E to E County Hwy 30A in Rosemary Beach

To get here from New Orleans:

Via I-10 E:

1. Get on I-10 E from Common St and Tulane Ave

2. Follow I-10 E to US-331 S in DeFuniak Springs. Take exit 85 from I-10 E

3. Follow US-331 S and US-98 E to E County Hwy 30A in Rosemary Beach

Via MS-26 E and I-10 E:

1. Get on I-10 E from Common St and Tulane Ave

2. Follow I-10 E and I-59 N to MS-26 E in Pearl River County. Take exit 29 from I-59 N

3. Get on I-65 S in Mobile from MS-26 E and US-98 E

4. Follow I-10 E to US-331 S in DeFuniak Springs. Take exit 85 from I-10 E

5. Follow US-331 S and US-98 E to E County Hwy 30A in Rosemary Beach

To get here from Tallahassee:

Via I-10 W:

1. Get on I-10 W

2. Follow I-10 W to FL-77 S in Chipley. Take exit 120 from I-10 W

3. Take FL-79 S to E County Hwy 30A in Rosemary Beach

Via FL-20 W:

1. Follow FL-20 W to Blue Springs Rd in Bay County

2. Take E Hwy 388 to FL-79 S

3. Take US-98 W to E County Hwy 30A in Walton County

4. Turn left onto E County Hwy 30A

Cabs and Car Rentals

If you’re flying into the area, coordinating ground transportation from the airport ahead of time is often the most convenient option. ECP has car rental kiosks on-site where you can pick up your rental car keys and drop them off when it’s time to go back home. Car rental companies at ECP airport include Alamo Rent-A-Car, Avis Rent-A-Car, Budget Rent-A-Car, Dollar/Thrifty Car Rental, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz Rent-A-Car, and National Rent-A-Car. If you’re looking for a taxi, shuttle, or limo, they have contact information for those as well. Uber and Lyft pickup is also available.

VPS has car rental agencies conveniently located in the lower-level baggage claim lobby. Companies servicing this airport include Alamo Rent-A-Car, Avis Rent-A-Car, Budget Rent-A-Car, Dollar Rent-A-Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz Rent-A-Car, National Rent-A-Car, and Destin Jeep Rentals. More than 60 local ground transportation companies are also available and include buses, limos, vans, shuttles, and taxis. Some hotels and condos offer shuttle services, and rideshare services are also available.
