Friends of the Coastal Branch Library announced that their artist for the month of June is Lenee Mills. Her works are currently on display.
“My work reflects personal sentiments and interests at the time, whether energized and happy, calm, reflective, frustrated or sad,” said Mills. “Unlike most artists that have a certain ‘look,’ my pieces tend to change with what I am experiencing at that time.”
Mills said that she loves to experiment with a range of mediums and subject matter, working in layers, often combining textural elements, such as sand from our beautiful beaches with many layers of color and washes. She said thet she believes that each of us has something that we can lose ourselves in, where time stands still letting that moment rejuvenate your soul.
“I found mine in painting,” she said.

Born and raised in the Midwest, Mills moved to the Emerald Coast with her husband and four children. Being a full-time mother and wife, she did not start painting until later in her life.
She said that her love for art was not encouraged during her school years, as her parents encouraged other pursuits. Yet through her life, her love for creating and experimenting could not help but to come out. Once Lenee found the canvas, she was hooked.
“I am growing and learning from my experience in art and life and embracing the journey in both,” said Mills.
Lenee’s work will be displayed at the Coastal Branch Library in Santa Rosa Beach throughout the month of June.
