Caliza Goes Pink and Joins Fight Against Breast Cancer

Caliza Goes Pink

Caliza Goes Pink on Oct 10th

In an effort to support the fight against breast cancer, Alys Beach and Executive Chef Kevin Korman will host Caliza Goes Pink on October 10, 2012. The special evening will feature a delectable five course menu that incorporates cancer-fighting ingredients.

“Our goal is to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research,” said Caliza Restaurant Executive Chef Kevin Korman. “Breast cancer affects thousands of women each year, and it is very rewarding to come together with the community to raise money toward fighting the disease.”

The intimate poolside event will incorporate pink decor in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In keeping with the theme, Alys Beach is honored to have a very special guest speaker, Lisa Burwell, VIE co-owner and breast cancer survivor. Burwell will share her inspirational story and share some of the exciting strides the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation is making in finding a cure.
Chef Kevin Korman, the visionary for the event, has created a spectacular five course menu. From black tea-smoked squab to Sous Vide Halibut, each thoughtfully selected dish infuses cancer-fighting foods.

“Over the years I’ve done a lot of research on cancer-fighting ingredients such as beets, chard, radishes, spinach, tea, mushrooms, kale, cauliflower, and flax seed to name a few. I’ve worked to infuse these items as a cornerstone and add in unexpected elements,” shared Chef Korman. “My mother is a survivor and I have a vested interest in making this event a huge success.”

Last year’s event raised more than $4,000 and the organizers hope to exceed that figure this year. All proceeds will be donated to Sacred Heart Cancer Center Emerald Coast Services and Susan G Komen Foundation.

Tickets are still available for the special Caliza Goes Pink evening for $200/person.
