Knob Creek Joins 'Eggs on the Beach' Event on Sept. 30 - 30A

Knob Creek Joins ‘Eggs on the Beach’ Event on Sept. 30

The Emerald Coast’s official Big Green Egg cooking competition, Eggs on the Beach, returns to Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 30.

Presented by Bay Breeze Patio, the family-friendly event celebrates the delicious results of cooking on the Big Green Egg while benefiting two local charities: Fisher House of the Emerald Coast and Food for Thought. More than 30 cook teams will be smoking, grilling and baking their favorite dishes on the Big Green Egg while tasters sample and vote for their favorites.

New for 2017, in partnership with Chan’s Wine World, Knob Creek will present two ‘Smoked Cocktail’ seminars.

Conducted by the mixologist from Old Hickory Whiskey Bar in Pensacola, the seminars will cover tips and tricks to creating the perfect smoked cocktails using Knob Creek Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Samples will be offered during the event to tasters 21 years of age and older.

The cooking competition will feature a variety of teams, ranging from backyard grillers to local restaurants to media teams to area non-profit organizations.

Each team will be cooking a variety of dishes from meats and seafood to veggies and desserts while vying for the “People’s Choice” award and a brand new large Big Green Egg.

The fun, spirited competition will be heightened by a panel of honorary judges who will award three teams with first, second and third place trophies. Teams will also compete for “best booth display” and “best bite infusing Knob Creek Bourbon.”

“We’re excited to see this event grow and attract Big Green Egg enthusiasts from around the region,” said Bay Breeze Patio co-owner and event co-founder Wayne Paul. “But the best part is the impact Eggs on the Beach has in supporting non-profit organizations in our community. Last year, we raised more than $28,500 for local and regional charities and we hope to exceed goal in 2017.”

Non-profit teams will be competing for a cash prize of $3,000, $2,000 or $1,000 donation toward their cause. Cook teams from the Rotary Club of Destin, Air Commando Association, Son of a Saint, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, Oxygen4Heroes, and Whole Foods Kids Foundation as well as Food for Thought and Fisher House will be serving their favorite recipes to earn taster votes. Proceeds from the event benefit The Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, which provides a home away from home for military families during medical treatment, and Food for Thought, which aims to fight hunger and food insecurity by providing backpacks with healthy snacks for students in Walton and Okaloosa Counties.

The cooking competition will be enhanced by kid’s activities, live music by Chris Alvarado, and drawings for a chance to win a Mini-Max Big Green Egg, dinners at area restaurants, a stay at the Residence Inn at Grand Boulevard and more.

In addition, top ranked college football games will be aired in the ENCO Sports Zone. Beverages including beer, wine, cocktails, water and sodas will be available for purchase.

For those who have thought of owning a Big Green Egg, Demo Eggs, which are used during the competition, are available for pre-sale at a discounted price. Demo Eggs are available in Large or XLarge and come with a nest (metal stand) and plate setter along with a limited lifetime warranty.
