Founded in 2006 by co-chairs Valerie and Mike “Chi Chi Miguel” Thompson as a small backyard gathering, the Throwdown Benefit Auction & BBQ has since expanded to a three-day event and one of the most successful fundraisers along the Emerald Coast.

Charity events, Wine Walkabout, Sip N Shop and Golf Tournament will kick-off the weekend’s festivities on Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31, benefitting Alaqua Animal Refuge and the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center.
Tickets to individual charity events can be purchased separately.
On Saturday, April 1, the Throwdown Benefit Auction & BBQ starts at 4 p.m. at Churchill Oaks Clubhouse. The star-studded outdoor barbeque competition will feature world-class vintners, pitmasters and renowned chefs including Chefs Emeril Lagasse and Chris Wilson, musical entertainment by Silverado Pickups and live and silent auctions.
All funds raised during the weekend benefit charities along the Gulf Coast, with the majority of proceeds given to local organizations. Beneficiaries include the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, Camille’s Art for Autism, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Alaqua Animal Refuge, Food for Thought Outreach, Pathways for Change, the Ingram Lee Foundation and Children’s Volunteer Health Network.
