Join the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County for The Power of a Song, an inspiring evening of music, storytelling, and connection in support of the CAA’s Beyond Bars songwriting education program at Walton Correctional Institution.
Beyond Bars is a songwriting education program that brings professional singer-songwriters into Walton Correctional Institution to teach the craft of songwriting and provide incarcerated individuals with a meaningful outlet for creativity, self-expression, and personal storytelling. Through music, participants are encouraged to find their voice, share their experiences, build confidence, and discover the power of creativity and connection.
Featuring Beyond Bars instructors and singer-songwriters Sammi Accola, Anna Grace Borné, David Borné, and Caitlin Cannon, the evening will offer a glimpse into the transformative work happening through the program and provide an opportunity for the audience to provide much-needed support.
Guests will experience original songs written by the men during the program, impact stories, and reflections from the artists and instructors who make Beyond Bars possible—and discover how a simple song can create connection, inspire hope, and give voice to the voiceless.
