Situated right at the corner of Scenic Hwy. 30-A and County Rd. 393, you’ll find one of South Walton’s most popular destinations for food, shopping, entertainment and fun on 30A.
The Gulf Place community is right on the Gulf, offering great views of the emerald waters and crystal white sands from many of the shops and restaurants perched just across the narrow two-lane road. Gulf Place is home to well-known eateries like The Perfect Pig, Pizza By the Sea, and the ever-popular, Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar. The ladder offering wonderful second story views of the beautiful sands, and serving as an ideal place to watch one of those majestic 30A sunsets, while having some fresh oysters and a cold Beach Blonde Ale.
Gulf Place offers a village-like atmosphere where visitors can stroll along, shopping the women’s boutiques, specialty stores, like YOLO Board & Bike’s Gulf Place location, and even the 30A Gear Store. All conveniently located within this unique little walkable coastal community. There’s also a package store to make those drink runs before hitting the beach, as simple as they can be.
Speaking of the beach, Gulf Place is directly across from 30A’s Ed Walline Public Beach Access, complete with its public parking, restrooms and changing facilities, and boardwalk to the sand and sea. This is one of the most popular public access points along 30A, and brings with it a host of beach lovers from around the country on those beautiful sunny days that staying and playing along 30A has become synonymous with.
If you’re into arts and fancy some great local faire, you’ll be inspired by the Artists of Gulf Place, a small village within a village, showcasing local artists and artisans, with pieces ranging from paintings to hand-made jewelry to woodwork and souvenirs of the area. There’s also a First Friday Artwalk, where additional vendors gather to showcase their talent and craft. While in the mode of discovering art, you won’t want to miss the three sea turtle sculptures, spread throughout the colorful community, and serving as testament to South Walton’s and the Gulf Place community’s commitment to environmental conservation.

As for entertainment, it abounds at Gulf Place, with in-season live music most nights, where venues like Perfect Pig and Shunk Gulley offer up local talent for visitors and locals alike. There’s also a Third Thursday Wine Walkabout where you’re invited to try the wine and beer at The 30A Store, while settling back in your beach chair and listening to some great live music. And as for gathering for live music, Gulf Place’s lawn/amphitheater is host to some of the best local concerts you’ll attend along 30A. With most of these being free to the public, and pretty frequent during the busy season. The same lawn is also home to the 30A Radio Airstream, which is the home of 30A Radio.
Just like you, your furry friend is always welcome at Gulf Place, and the community even has its own veterinarian and grooming salon, as well as plenty of room for your pet to get out and roam, whether you’re staying in a Gulf Place property or just visiting for part of a day.
There’s definitely plenty to take in and enjoy within this 30A community, whatever time of year that you’re perusing these tranquil shores. Don’t take my word for it though, drop by, park your car, and spend a few hours getting to know Gulf Place. I think you’ll be glad you did.
