Adam Yellin and Jimmy Hasser opened Local Catch in 2010. “I just love taking good care of people,” Jimmy said recently. “Seeing the people you know and love and share a town with, seeing them happy, seeing them smile, seeing them come back again and again, it’s the biggest reward I can get out of this.”
Local Catch, located in between Blue Mountain Beach and Gulf Place right on Scenic Highway 30A, just reopened after a few weeks of renovations. They refinished the bar floor and table tops and added a beer garden and patio outside the entrance.
The restaurant serves up great food, including their popular fresh fish tacos, nachos piled high with pulled pork, sandwiches, salads and some pretty darn tasty chicken wings. They have drink specials almost every night and draw great crowds with their Sunday Funday afternoons with the Forrest Williams Band.
After five years, Jimmy said the business is exactly what he and Adam envisioned.
“We wanted to have a fun, relaxed, casual place where families can go that has fresh, local food with good portions and great music,” Jimmy said.
He said he and Adam feel fortunate for how positively the community has responded to what they’ve been trying to do. And, they still feel blessed to get to come into work each day doing what they love with people they love.
“The best thing about doing this is being able to work with all my buddies,” Jimmy said. “We brought a crew friends and family in here. You don’t fear coming to work because all your buddies are in one place. It’s a great team and that’s the only reason we’re so good.”
Jimmy said through the off season Local Catch boasts the best and longest happy hour in the area — from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Each night has a special drink and appetizer special.
