With the publication of its annual Best Trips issue, National Geographic Traveler magazine has revealed its 28 must-see destinations and travel experiences for 2019, and South Walton County, Florida is on the list. Traveler editors and National Geographic Explorers selected their top places to travel across four categories: Cities, Nature, Culture, and Adventure. South Walton, Florida was selected in the Nature category due to its proactive approach to protecting its shores and marine life.
South Walton was one of only four destinations in the United States to be selected for the 2019 list!
“This is a tremendous honor for our beautiful part of the world to be included in such an auspicious list!” said 30A founder Mike Ragsdale. In choosing our area, the magazine mentioned the accessible artificial reef systems which are creating flourishing habitats for marine life right off our shores. The nation’s first permanent Underwater Museum of Art is also found here.
