Mixed-Media Masterpieces at Curate!
This weekend, Curate Gallery in Rosemary Beach will host an exciting opportunity to meet Rob Matre, the renowned artist behind Plaid Columns, a collaborative duo that also includes Evan Jones. Plaid Columns is known for their exploration of how architecture and graphic design can bring visual interest to both urban and rural landscapes.
The exhibit, running from Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 4, will feature their latest mixed-media works, which combine photography, collage, and bold strokes of color.
The works often incorporate photographs by Matre, transforming everyday scenes into dynamic compositions that reflect a unique interplay of light, structure, and color.
Rob Matre’s photography is widely celebrated and collected, with his work shown in many prestigious galleries and museums, including a retrospective at The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art in Georgia. Evan Jones, the other half of the duo, has also made his mark, with two solo exhibitions at Matre Gallery and a successful debut museum exhibition at The Albany Museum of Art in Georgia, where his work enjoyed an extended seven-month run.
The event offers a chance to meet Rob Matre in person and discuss his creative process while exploring his latest artistic expressions. This is also a rare opportunity to celebrate vintage 30A beach life through art, with Matre’s distinctive perspective on the region’s coastal charm.
Curate Gallery invites guests to join them for this special weekend event, where they can explore the exhibit and connect with the artists. For those interested in purchasing a piece, the gallery recommends contacting them at 850-231-1808 or via email at [email protected] to reserve a work from the collection.
The gallery is located at 72 Main Street, Rosemary Beach, and the exhibit will be open daily from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
