On most days, there’s nothing but smooth sailing across the waters of South Walton‘s beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay. The bay’s roughly 30 miles across and 4 to 6 miles wide at any given point. The bay is part of the intercoastal canal system. To the west, Choctawhatchee Bay meets the Gulf of Mexico at Destin Pass. In the east, boaters and fishermen (and women) enjoy the peace solitude of the Choctawhatchee River and her many tributaries.
