Clean-Up Day Clears More Than 16,000 Pieces of Trash from Beach

More than 16,000 items of trash were cleared off area beaches during Visit South Walton’s International Coastal Cleanup Day this fall. Volunteers worked hard at Dune Allen, Ed Walline, Inlet Beach and Miramar Beach to clean up trash remaining after the summer crowds went home.

The three items that were picked up the most were cigarette butts, food wrappers and bottle caps — accounting for over 65 percent of all items collected.
