Men, women and children of all ages are invited to don high heels for Walk Her Way at Rosemary Beach on Friday, June 7th at 6pm.
This strut aims to raise awareness of domestic violence, as walkers stroll around the square showing off their favorite pair of high heels. There’s also a free after-party featuring The Forrest Williams Band.
Of course, Walk Her Way isn’t just a fun event. It carries a serious message about respect and healthy relationships. The walk will benefit Shelter House, the domestic violence center serving Okaloosa and Walton counties and Rosemary Beach Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cultural, educational, and other charitable activities in Rosemary Beach and Walton County. To date, Rosemary Beach Foundation has raised over $350,000 for local charities.
“Shelter House served more than 5,500 women, children and men in Okaloosa and Walton counties last year,” said Shelter House Executive Director Michelle Sperzel. “Events like Walk Her Way allow us to spread the word to new audiences about our services and help us raise funds for innovative new programs like the Purple Paws Kennel. This summer Shelter House will become the only pet-friendly domestic violence center in all of Northwest Florida.”
Team registrations are encouraged, and awards will be given for the team that raises the most money as well as those that have the best theme and best costumes. Advance registration is $30 for adults and $10 for children under 12 and includes a T-shirt. Registration the day of the walk will be an additional $5 per person from 5pm to 6 pm.
