Walton-DeFuniak Library Celebrates 135 Years of Service
Posted Dec 29, 2022
The Walton-DeFuniak Library has provided services to citizens and visitors since opening in 1887. On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, a celebration was held to honor 135 years of service.
The all-day event kicked off with a welcome from Library Director, Caitie Cerise, followed by a proclamation outlining the history of the library from DeFuniak Springs Mayor, Bob Campbell. The Walton-DeFuniak Friends of the Library provided cake, and library staff hosted a hot chocolate station, cupcake decorating station, and craft station throughout the day.
The library staff was honored to welcome County Commissioners, DeFuniak Springs council members, and Library Advisory Board members, along with citizens to celebrate this milestone.
The Walton-DeFuniak Library continues to provide materials, programs, and events to support education, innovation, and life-long learning for residents of Walton County.
“Thank you to our community for your continued love and support. It’s an honor to serve you,” said Walton-DeFuniak Library Branch Manager, Barb Hughes, who planned library-style birthday activities for all ages throughout the month of December.
