Final YOLO Board Relay Series at The Bay on Sept 5

The final installment of the 10th annual YOLO Board Relay Series will take place on Tuesday, September 5th. Watch this page for more details coming soon.

the celebrated community event is held at The Bay restaurant with races on Choctawhatchee Bay.

Every race include giveaways, live music, refreshments and kids’ activities. One of the pioneer SUP events on the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast, the YOLO Board Relay Series has expanded and evolved as the sport’s popularity has grown across the area. Click here to register.

This year’s edition features team relay-style competition in three recreational divisions: men’s, women’s and coed along with the return of a division dedicated to Special Olympics Florida-Walton County athletes.

“we are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and participation of the local SUP community for the race series,” said Jeff Archer, founder of YOLO Board.

“When the series began, we had no idea that it would still be a highlight of our season ten years later,” said Archer.

Defined by a lighthearted and festive atmosphere, the series allows participants of all skill levels to enjoy being on the water and offers the perfect venue for spectators to relax and cheer on their favorite teams.

The Bay offers a picturesque sandy beach along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay with seating and refreshments readily available. Signature 10th anniversary t-shirts are available for purchase, and all racers receive a swag bag that includes a t-shirt.

Each race series event begins at 4:30 p.m. at The Bay. Special Olympic athletes paddle at 4:30 p.m., ladies at 5:30, men at 6 and co-ed at 6:30. Boards are provided for each race, so no need to bring your own. Each registered paddler receives one meal ticket and two drink tickets. Food and drinks are also available for spectators at The Bay.

This year’s race themes are: Race 1: Sports Race; Race 2: Superheroes; Race 3: Fairytail. Costumes are encouraged, but are by no means mandatory.

This year, YOLO will raffle off a YOLO Board to benefit The Sonder Project, a locally-based nonprofit organization focused on high-impact, sustainable projects aimed at ending extreme poverty and fighting hunger around the world. You do not have to be present to win.
