In this edition of 30A Q&A, we catch up with local photographer David Warren on what he likes most about living at the beach.

1. What local restaurant/ park/ activity is underrated or underappreciated?

I am not sure it’s “underappreciated,” but if you have not tried the chips at Amigos at 30Avenue, you are missing out! They make their own in-house, and it takes your meal to the next level!

2. Where do you go when you need some quality me-time?

Getting out and about on 30A is always a special time. Since being down here, I have enjoyed exploring the coastal dune lakes and the state parks.

My favorite places become the spots I take my family to when we are looking for adventure!

3. What’s your favorite month on 30A? And why?

Seeing as I really got involved in the area last fall, the cooler (relative, I know!) months are definitely special to me. It’s always exciting to see the crowds of people enjoying our beaches, but the calm and serenity along the coast in November, and even January, make it all the more special to be here and enjoy what surrounds us.

4. What’s your favorite way to spend time outdoors?

Being a photographer, I like to explore new areas and then document what I’m seeing so I can share it with others. One of the coolest things I do is take my drone with me while I am walking about the State Park trails and just catch birds-eye views of what is around me. One of the neatest places is 4 Mile Village, with all of the history that surrounds the neighborhood. If I didn’t have my drone with me, I don’t think I would have been able to really understand how big the state park is there!

5. What’s something you’re looking forward to?

I always look forward to spending downtime with my family. I have a two-year-old daughter that keeps my wife and I busy, but doing new things like trying out the area’s zoos or even just letting her run around the Seaside Amphitheater is an opportunity to create amazing memories with her.

BONUS: What’s your favorite dessert on 30A?

It’s hard to find a favorite treat along 30A, so many to choose from, so I’ll go by time of day — if I’m craving something sweet before lunchtime, I’m swinging by Charlie’s Donuts in Alys Beach! Any other time of day I’m stopping at Blue Mountain Creamery for some of their homemade concoctions!
