Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF), one of the nation’s premier wine-industry fundraising organizations, recently announced that a hunter green 2008 Tesla Roadster Sport will be auctioned at the 13th Annual Destin Charity Wine Auction hosted Saturday, April 28, in Grand Boulevard.

Donated by St. Joe Community Foundation, this truly unique collector’s item with less than 3,000 miles on its odometer is the 16^th ever produced in the Tesla Roadster Series.

It is easily recognizable as the sister to the red Roadster currently mounted inside the nose cone launched atop SpaceX’s newest rocket, the Falcon Heavy.

This is the second Tesla donated to the Foundation by St. Joe Community Foundation, Inc.

They donated a white 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport to the 12^th annual auction that raised $85,000 for children’s charities in Walton county and was the highest grossing single auction lot of 2017. 

“We couldn’t be more excited about receiving another Tesla for the auction and we hope our patrons are as well,” Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation President John Russell said. “Having had extraordinary success with our first car at last year’s auction, we are thrilled to offer another in our thirteenth year. We are incredibly grateful to St. Joe Community Foundation for their support of our organization and our mission of helping children in need in Northwest Florida.”

The 2008 Tesla Roadster can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and combines the performance of a high-end sports car with the environmental-friendliness of an all-electric drive train that emits zero emissions. Built in limited numbers, the Roadster can travel nearly 250 miles on a single charge, and its lithium-ion battery pack can recharge in four hours. With its chassis built by Lotus and body made of carbon fiber, the 2008 Roadster is approximately the size of a Lotus Elise. Given its place in the production line, the winning bidder will also become a member of the prestigious Tesla 100 Club.

The winner bidder of the Tesla Roadster auction lot will also receive a two-night stay at Watersound Beach Gatehouse, meals at Watersound Café, a weekend of activities on Lake Powell, and access to the exclusive Watersound Beach Club during their stay. 

Destin Charity Wine Auction is currently ranked #3 “Top 10 Charity Wine Auctions in the US” by Wine Spectator Magazine, raising more than $15 million for children in need in northwest Florida since its inception in 2005. Now in its thirteenth year, the Foundation has impacted more than 90,000 at-risk youth through their fundraising efforts. The signature event, the Destin Charity Wine Auction, is held in South Walton within Grand Boulevard in conjunction with the South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival the last weekend in April each year.
