In the ten years since the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation began, they have donated more than $8 million to support children in need in Northwest Florida. Last year’s auction donated over $2 million to 12 area charities, a 57 percent increase over 2013’s total.
The 2014 Destin auction ranked just behind the Sonoma Harvest Wine Auction, Naples Winter Wine Festival and Auction Napa Valley, meaning the auction has helped put Northwest Florida on the national map of prestigious locales for wine festivals.
“We are absolutely thrilled and humbled,” said John Russell, president of the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation. “After reaching number six last year, we knew it would be challenging to move up in rankings with so many incredible auctions taking place around the country. We are extremely grateful to all of our patrons, sponsors, volunteers and leadership for their hard work, loyalty, tenaciousness and generosity that have helped us to achieve this milestone. What this really represents is the positive impact we are having for children in our community.”
This year’s, Destin Charity Wine Auction will be held on Saturday, April 25, at Grand Boulevard at Sandestin as part of the four-day South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival.
The auction will feature approximately 200 silent and live offerings. The vast selection of lots range from one-of-kind experiences in Italy, Switzerland, and France, including a stay Château de Beaucastel’s Guest House in Vinsobres, to highly coveted lots of rare wines.
