If it’s picture-perfect white sand and crystal-clear water you desire, come to the 30A area in South Walton. We have beautiful weather along the Emerald Coast throughout the year. 30A ushers visitors into gorgeous beaches and pretty communities with promises of spectacular fun and lasting memories.
Note: Some events may be canceled or held in a limited capacity in 2021 due to Coronavirus. Please call ahead and confirm before you visit.
Our coldest month. In coastal north Florida, winters can be icy, but the bright white sand, azure skies, aquamarine waters, and sepia-colored sunsets are as exquisite as summertime. We average 60˚ F. for the high and 37˚ F. as the low, so pack layering pieces. Bundle up in a sweatshirt and keep warm by a crackling beach bonfire. Check out the 30A Songwriters Festival, where artists perform for sold-out audiences. For more reasons to visit in January, click here.
February
Spring emerges and winter clings. We have crisp mornings and warmer afternoons. The average high as 64˚F. and the average low is 40˚F. We have a lower precipitation average this month at 5.69 inches. Roll with the good times at Baytowne Wharf’s family-friendly Mardi Gras golf cart parade on Fat Tuesday. Krews toss fun loot to the crowd. Want wine? Attend the 30A Wine Festival in Alys Beach, which benefits the Children’s Volunteer Health Network.
March
Spring Breakers hit the beach! (Locals do, too!) Highs break into the seventies, and lows are in the forties, so come prepared. Too cool for bathing suits? Explore 30A shopping and cuisine. For St. Patrick’s Day festivities, enjoy the 30A St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Stop into Johnny McTighe’s Irish Pub – the only Irish dining on 30A. Enjoy a Guinness or Smithwick’s and the best Reuben sandwich. You can continue Irish fun at Baytowne Wharf’s St. Patty’s Day Delight – Paint the Village Green.
April
Megan gets a taste of this weekend’s Sandestin Wine Festival, including some 30A Wine. ???? ???? ???? let’s take a stroll: ????♀️
April showers bring May flowers? Not here. With an average rainfall of 102 mm/month, we have lower rainfall averages. Temperatures rise to mid-seventies and average lows are mid-fifties. With nine hours of sunshine, enjoy the outdoors, and if there is a sprinkle, it will pass. At the end of April is the Sandestin Wine Festival, or the “Kentucky Derby of Wine Festivals,” every April.
May
Hello sunshine! The water and air temperatures are warmer. With weather reaching around 86˚F, and 10 hours of sun per day, before school breaks for summer vacation, the beaches and roads are lovely to explore. Nighttime averages 60˚F. Visit Alys Beach at the family-friendly Digital Graffiti event, an artistic illumination show. Enjoy Memorial Day Weekend at Alys Beach Amphitheater for Sinfonia Goes Pops, with fireworks.
June
Beach and be happy! Live life like a local in flip-flops and bathing suits. Highs average in the mid-eighties and lows in the mid-sixties – perfect beach weather. With charter fishing opportunities – fish are waiting to be caught. Have fun fishing with the family and friends or rent a bike or paddleboard for another great outdoor adventure.
July
Warm weather and watermelon! Temperatures rise into the nineties and dip into balmy seventies. The sunshine state gets “liquid sunshine” during summer months, but there is plenty of indoor fun to have on a rainy day. Celebrate the Fourth in any one of 30A’s beach towns for Fourth of July parades.
August
End of summer – perfect beach weather. Schools are back in session, so crowds thin out. A continuation of July heat, temperatures are usually in the high eighties and sometimes the nineties. Get a beach umbrella and camp out on the soft sand in the shade or enjoy live music and other fun events, announced daily, on the 30A event calendar.
Temperatures cool down. With weather averaging between the mid-eighties and upper sixties, and students back to school, September is an ideal time to visit. If you’re into paddle boarding, YOLO Board Paddle Palooza toward the end of September. Stay posted on 30A.com or the YOLO board site for info.
October
Fall, football, and a break from the heat. The first cool air hits in early October. The weather fluctuates throughout October. The average high is 80˚F. and the low is 50˚F. Celebrate Octoberfest at the annual Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival, and later in the month on Halloween, Baytowne also has Trick or Treat Street at Baytowne, a family-friendly event.
November
Cooler temps and festivals! There is no shortage of fun holiday entertainment along 30A. Pleasant fall days around 70˚F. and evenings around 40˚F. greet the holiday season on 30A. If you like wine, go to the Seeing Red Wine Festival in Seaside as well as the Harvest Food and Wine Festival in early November. At the end of November is the annual South Walton Holiday Parade to welcome in the Christmas season, complete with Santa Clause.
December
The lights of Barrett Square reflecting in the puddles of a rainy night in Rosemary Beach.
2020 has been a different kind of year. This little one marveling at the Barrett Square Tree in Rosemary Beach makes one feel hopeful for the coming year.
Holidays are more magical at the beach. Average temps range from 62˚ F. – 40˚F. The local communities decorate for the season and pretty trees and holiday lights add to the Christmas cheer! If you want snow and ice in Florida, it’s at the Village of Baytowne Wharf located in Sandestin. Love the ice rink? Baytowne Wharf has ice skating from late October – early February at Baytowne on Ice, and snow falls at Winter Wonderland in Baytowne. Check the Baytowne Wharf website, here, for dates.
