This week on 30A is packed with beachy fun, from live music and farmers markets to creative workshops and spooky outdoor movies. Whether you love concerts, exploring local art, tasting incredible wines, or enjoying a movie under the stars, there’s something for everyone to enjoy along the coast!

1. Autumn by the Sea: An Artful Encounter with Simon Kenevan

As autumn graces the coastline, artist Simon Kenevan captures the serene essence of the season in his latest collection. From October 9 to 16, 2024, visitors are invited to witness the quiet beauty of fall at the beach through Kenevan’s masterful strokes. Known for his ability to evoke emotion through landscape and seascape, Kenevan will be present daily at Curate in Rosemary Beach to share his inspiration and creative process. Drop by between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. to meet the artist and learn more about his work.

2. Starfish Family Fun: Workshop & Book Signing with John Hollan

Dive into creativity with artist and author John Hollan at The Big Chill! On Wednesday, families are invited to design their very own starfish character, complete with outfits, colors, and accessories, in this hands-on workshop. Plus, don’t miss the chance to grab a signed copy of John Hollan’s beloved book. All supplies are provided, and each starfish creation is $20.

3. Waves of Inspiration: Storytellers Open Mic at Hibiscus Coffee & Guesthouse

On Thursday, October 17, Hibiscus Coffee & Guesthouse in Grayton Beach will host an evening of storytelling, connection, and creativity in the “Backyard of Love.” The event will begin with a cocktail hour featuring offerings from Raw & Juicy, followed by a series of inspiring stories starting at 6 p.m. The October theme, Waves of Inspiration, will explore the unpredictable tides of creativity and life’s unexpected currents.

Featured storyteller Martha LaGuardia-Kotite, a trailblazing US Coast Guard veteran and award-winning author, will share her experiences and insights. LaGuardia-Kotite’s career, spanning 30 years, saw her rise to the rank of captain while breaking barriers for women in the military. It’s an evening celebrating the power of storytelling, open to all who wish to experience a night of reflection and inspiration under the stars.

4. 8th Annual Harvest Wine & Food Festival: Celebrity Winemaker Dinners

Kick off the 8th Annual Harvest Wine & Food Festival with an unforgettable evening at the Celebrity Winemaker Dinners, hosted on Thursday, October 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at WaterColor Inn & Resort. This exclusive dining experience will feature renowned winemakers pairing their finest selections with curated gourmet dishes, offering guests a true taste of luxury.

Part of a weekend-long celebration from October 17-20 in WaterColor, Florida, the festival includes events such as the Harvest After Dark on October 18 and the Grand Tasting on October 19. Produced by the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF), the festival brings together top chefs and winemakers, all while supporting children in need across Northwest Florida.
